Tattoo Aftercare Guide

First 24 Hours

Keep your bandage on as instructed. When you remove it, wash gently with fragrance-free antibacterial soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry with a clean towel

Days 2–7

Wash twice daily with a liquid antibacterial hand soap. Apply a thin layer of rfragrance free lotion. Your tattoo will begin to peel like a sunburn; avoid picking or scratching at all costs.

Weeks 2–4

Transition to a fragrance-free lotion. Keep out of direct sunlight and avoid soaking in pools or hot tubs until fully healed. Your skin is still regenerating.

DO

  • Wash your hands before touching your tattoo.
  • Gently clean with fragrance-free antibacterial soap.
  • Pat dry with a fresh, clean paper towel.
  • Apply a very thin layer of tattoo-specific ointment.
  • Wear loose, breathable cotton clothing.

DON'T

  • Don't pick, scratch, or peel your scabs.
  • Avoid soaking in baths, pools, or hot tubs.
  • Keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight.
  • Don't re-bandage unless Jared instructed it.
  • Avoid tight clothing that rubs against the ink.

Everything you need to know about the healing process to ensure your new ink stays sharp and vibrant.

Is the scabbing normal?

Yes, light scabbing or flaking is a natural part of the healing process. It usually begins around day 3 or 4. Whatever you do, do not pick or scratch the scabs, as this can pull ink out and cause scarring.

Why is my tattoo so itchy?

Itching is a sign of healing. Apply a thin layer of unscented, water-based moisturizer to help soothe the skin. If it’s unbearable, gently pat the area with clean hands instead of scratching.

Can I shower with my new ink?

Yes, but keep it brief. Use lukewarm water and fragrance-free, antibacterial soap. Avoid letting the shower stream hit the tattoo directly, and pat it completely dry with a clean paper towel immediately after.

When can I go back to the gym?

It's best to wait at least 48 to 72 hours before heavy exercise. Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating or involve contact with dirty equipment, as these can introduce bacteria to the open wound.

How do I protect it from the sun?

Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while it heals. UV rays can cause significant fading and irritate the healing skin. Once fully healed (after 4 weeks), always use a high-SPF sunscreen.

Can I go swimming?

No swimming or soaking for at least 3 weeks. Avoid pools, hot tubs, lakes, and the ocean. Submerging a fresh tattoo increases the risk of serious infection and can wash out ink.
